The Tree of Life : May 2, 2008

Behold, that before the emanations were emanated and the creatures were created,

The upper simple light had filled the whole existence.

And there was no vacancy, such as an empty atmosphere, a hollow, or a pit,

But all was filled with simple, boundless light.

And there was no such part as head, or tail,

But everything was simple, smooth light, balanced evenly and equally,

And it was called the Endless Light.

And when upon His simple will, came the desire to create the world and emanate the emanations,

To bring to light the perfection of His deeds, His names, His appellations,

Which was the cause of the creation of the worlds,

He then restricted Himself, in the middle,

Precisely in the center,

He restricted the light.

And the light drew far off to the sides around that middle point.

And there remained an empty space, a vacuum

Circling the middle point.

And the restriction had been uniform

Around the empty point,

So that the space

Was evenly circled around it.

There, after the restriction,

Having formed a vacuum and a space

Precisely in the middle of the endless light,

A place was formed,

Where the emanated and the created might reside.

Then from Endless Light a single line hung down,

Lowered down into that space.

And through that line, He emanated, formed,

Created all the worlds.

Before these four worlds came to be

There was one infinite, one name, in wondrous, hidden unity,

That even for the closest of the angles

There is no attainment in the endless,

As there is no mind that can perceive it,

For He has no place, no boundary, no name.

A man has no greater desire for the spiritual than
that which he receives from a woman. We spoke
about the fact that the ten Sefirot separated into
nine first Sefirot and Malchut. Malchut is called a
woman, and the nine first Sefirot pertain to the
man. The first nine Sefirot do not feel the need to
develop spiritually unless Malchut joins them. We
need to understand that it is a vitally important
need, and a man cannot reach greater spiritual
attainment than the desire that he receives from
the female part, the Nukvah. A man and a woman
need to unite in order to create spiritual states in
the same way that they need to unite in our world
in order to give birth to the next generation. When
women support the men, their Kelim also grow.
They connect to the first nine Sefirot, the desire to
bestow, which is particular to men, and because of
the interaction between men and women, they
enlarge their Kelim.

What Is My Predestination ?

This is something that only you can discover on your own, to the degree that you progress spiritually.
In our world, we are called “animals” because we spend our lives taking care of our bodies, our offspring, and satisfying our animalistic desires, such as fighting for leadership, our place in the tribe, and so on and so forth. Therefore, nothing you do in this world will be your purpose, because all your actions are designed for benefiting your body, which will eventually die. As such, your predestination can only be a goal that is eternal, and that has you in it.

Kabbalah reveals both the general predestination, and your personal predestination, together with the means to attain it. The general purpose is to connect everyone together and become similar to the Creator through such a connection. Your personal predestination is to bring the whole world to this state, because you are the only one who can do it.

"Intention is not a personal matter. "It is written: As one man in one heart." The unification is the vessel; you must connect with others. Through that, you find your corrected vessel; you find that the Creator does not relate to you as an individual, but according to the extent to which you make of your self an adequate vessel through all of the other vessels. Therefore, there can be no intention if you turn to the Creator while disconnecting yourself from others. You have nothing to turn to the Creator with, since it is only possible to address the Creator with the request: "Help me connect with the others, since through the connection with them I acquire a vessel for your inspiration, to become similar to you."

"To my students, We need to renew our work every day, that is to say we need to forget the past. If we have not succeeded in the past, we need to begin over again. Like the merchant who opens a shop that failed--he closes that one and immediately starts another, and he is full of hope that though the old business failed, the new one is sure to succeed. This is similar to ourselves;even though in the past we did not succeed, in the future we will surely succeed-but never stand idle-for without any efforts, it's certain that any success is impossible."

From Rabash's Letters.
